The Urban Youth Peace Movement invites you to the first annual Silent Auction,
an art, performance and social event, to
raise funds to conduct a ten-day
Peace-building workshop at Camp Deerpark.
The Urban Youth Peace Movement, a new non-profit organization, is committed to empowering youth in at-risk urban communities to become intentional in building peaceful relationships. We are dedicated to helping youth learn conflict resolution, peace building and advocacy skills; helping them develop and use these tools to create better relationships in their homes, schools, and communities – so that violent confrontation will be transformed.
Our first project, a 10-day peace building session at Camp Deerpark for 20 youth, will take place from August 24th to Sept. 3rd. The youth, ages 12 to 16 from the South Bronx and other at-risk neighborhoods, are excited and ready to go. They will be learning skills that will help them in their own relationships and also develop them as leaders to help other youth deal with confrontation from a peace-building and conflict-resolving approach. UYPM, however, finds itself a bit financial shy of the needed funds, so we invited you to join our efforts.
Please come on Saturday August 22
from 5 to 8 pm
to Menno House
314 East 19th street
for an evening of fun, food, fellowship, and fund-raising
