The peace gathering is being plan by a committee comprised of members of the Religious Society of Friends, The Church of the Brethren, and the Mennonite Church USA.

During the Spring and Summer of 2007 a minute was approved by Uwchlan Monthly Meeting, calling on Philadelphia Yearly Meeting to organize a peace conference. This minute was in turn approved by Caln Quarterly Meeting, and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting (PYM). Accordingly the Clerk of PYM — Thomas Swain — called together a Steering Committee. Since August of 2007 this committee has been working to implement a conference along the lines of the one that was suggested by Uwchlan Meeting. The steering committee is comprised of members of The Church of the Brethren, the Mennonites Church USA. and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, and works to follow the leadings of the spirit to discern how we are lead to act.
